How Long Does Pool Fence Installation Take? (Less Than You Think)

·By Michael Leifer

When people ask about getting a pool fence, one of the most common responses we hear is: "I'll get to it — I just don't want the hassle right now."

We get it. Home improvement projects are disruptive. Contractors show up late, work takes longer than quoted, and you're left managing tradespeople in your backyard for days.

Pool fence installation isn't like that.

The Typical Timeline

For a standard residential pool fence in Maricopa County — let's say 80 to 120 linear feet around a typical pool — here's what actually happens:

Day before or morning of: Michael arrives, does a quick on-site measurement to confirm the footage and gate placement. This takes 20–30 minutes.

Installation day: Posts are set, mesh is installed, gates are hung and adjusted. For most pools, the fence is fully installed in 4 to 6 hours. Larger pools or more complex layouts might take a full day. Smaller pools, sometimes less.

Before we leave: Every gate is tested — self-close function, latch engagement, latch height. You walk it with us, ask any questions, and we don't leave until you're satisfied.

That's it. One day. Usually done by 3pm.

Why It's So Fast

Unlike wooden or wrought iron fences, removable mesh pool fences don't require:

  • Concrete footings that need to cure
  • Permits in most Arizona municipalities (verify with your city)
  • Multiple crews or specialized equipment
  • Post-installation painting, sealing, or finishing work

Posts are anchored into the pool deck with stainless steel hardware. The mesh stretches taut between them. Gates are mounted with precision-tensioned spring hinges and adjustable latches. It's a proven system that Michael has installed hundreds of times.

You Don't Have to Watch the Whole Thing

We ask that someone be home at the start so Michael or the installer can walk the fence line with you and confirm placement — and at the end for the final gate walkthrough and payment. But the 2–4 hours in between? That's yours. Run errands, go to work, handle school pickup. We'll text you when we're wrapping up.

What About the Mess?

Minimal. The deck drilling creates a small amount of dust. We clean up before we leave. There's no concrete mixing, no trenching, no materials left behind. Your yard looks the same, just with a fence around the pool.
